Hello Fiber9,

Check this KB.  It could help you to find the bigger files.

Hello Fiber,

Good Day!!!

I m getting error: init: write failed: No space left on device on ex. Does it affect the functionality of the switch? - Well, it won't affect your pass-through traffic but I have seen Web-GUI won't respond due to this issue and sometimes you can't even log in via Web-GUI. Also, in rare scenarios, you can't commit the change.

Is it possible to free the space? - Yes, we can. Please follow the steps suggested by Randall and Manvita. If those doesn't resolve your issue you can use the below command to sort the large files and delete it accordingly. Mostly focus on /var/ directory because that's where you might have old Junos images, core-dumps etc.

To determine large file size:

(shell command) user@host% find -x /cf/var -type f -exec du -k {} \; | sort –n

To determine the files that is more than 10MB:

(shell command) user@host% sh -c 'find / -size +10485760c 2> /dev/null' | xargs du -h | sort -nr

To delete a file from shell mode:

user@host% rm -rf <path-to-a-file>

You could delete backup software:

user@host> request system software delete backup (Not sure whether this command is supported in EX series)

Sometimes even after deleting the files, the storage won't be reflected and in those cases, you gotta reboot your device.

Thanks,
π00bm@$t€®.
